Zambia – Honeymoon

When we decided to get married in spring 2020 one of the first things we started to think about was our honeymoon. What a great excuse to take on a long holiday. It was also the first summer in a global health crisis and since everyone kept insisting it will be over by next year, why not plan a holiday as if Covid-19 wouldn’t exist.

Wild Zambia safari

Since we already did self-driving safaris in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa it was a must for us to find a destination that would allow us to self-drive again and have the privacy of our honeymoon. After some researches, we stumbled upon Rob and Mambulu! Safaris and decided to take on their help for our Trip to Zambia and Malawi. Rob was a great help in suggesting an amazing route and wonderful campsites and Lodges along the way. From the beginning on he understood the mixture of the seclusive campsite and exclusive lodges that we wanted for our honeymoon. Until we took off to Zambia he helped us with every little detail and question that came along. And since Covid-19 didn’t disappear as expected it came to a lot of questions and obstacles. Not only was it to arrange PCR tests on arrival for us, three weeks before take-off and in the week before our wedding we had to rearrange our whole trip because Malawi closed its borders. But Rob managed everything in such a calm way, from how the car we initially had to pick up in Malawi came to Zambia to structuring our new route to not miss out on anything in Zambia that we were looking for.

Friendly Zambians

And it all came together in such a wonderful trip we will always look back for. We experienced a country with such great hospitality and friendliness which wants us to go back to Zambia any minute. Additionally, all the back and forth with the Covid-19 measurements and worries rewarded us with national parks full of animals but no tourists. We were told that Zambia in general is the hidden gem within Africa and that you don’t have to share your sightings with a lot of other safari cars. But for us, we had private moments watching Leopards, Lions and wild dogs.

Recommendation Zambia and Mambulu! Safaris

We would recommend anyone for their next holiday or safari to go to this lush and green country next to the Zambezi for some kayaking, animal watching and seclusiveness in the wild. We definitely can’t wait to plan our next safari and adventure with Rob and his great team.

Best regards,
Valentina and Lukas
